Visiting Michigan - March 2011

We had a great but short visit with Jeff. He took us on a tour of one of his labs at Dow, and we saw his little robot that resembles an Android. Our flight out was one to forget, if only I could. It was a red-eye from SFO to Atlanta, then connecting to Detroit. There was a strange lady across the aisle from us, who made lots of noise, demands, and problems for the attendants. She unpacked one bag into the aisle, drummed on the tray table, and ignored requests for quiet. Also, there was a young boy behind me who talked loudly to his mother for two hours before he finally fell asleep. When he woke up, he was airsick and vomiting. Needless to say, we did not sleep on this flight.
It was a cold visit, getting down to 13*F on the night we took Jeff's telescope out for a wonderful view of Saturn and some amazing galaxies. We did, of course, go to Zingerman's in Ann Arbor for lunch and shopping. What a place! It's like the Pasta Shop on 4th in Berkeley, but much, much bigger. It was a manager in Berkeley who told me about Zingerman's when I went in to get something to send to Jeff in Midland, MI. Great find.
As always, I was happy to get home to the cats.

3 years later, I'm still here, still procrastinating

Ah, yes. I remembered that someone helped me set up a blog. Well, they couldn't make me do updates, so there! Actually, I just bumped into myself while roaming through the computer, which I am now allowed to use again. (That's another story.) (And, yes, it involves John.)
So here I am, with nothing much to say, but that never stops me from saying it. I am actually looking forward to my 64th birthday in January, because I plan to use a certain Beatles' song as my theme for the year. I shall blast it from my car, my ipod, and anything else I can find to put it on.
I should post some photos of the cats, but I don't know how and I am alone here today. Maybe later. Procrastinating again.
Well, I'm off to see a wizard. Later, all.

Winter Birthdays

We Wilburs celebrate birthdays in clumps, and we three are from December and January. John's dad was part of this group until last year. So here we are - me (1/1) on the left, Bonnie (12/23) in the middle, and Barbara (1/22) on the right. Her cat ears are coutesy of my kitchen calendar. She made the delicious and beautiful cake, too.

Me@60

We were trying out the camera the day it arrived. This is an unedited photo of me in all my natural glory. The camera is a Canon SD800, and I'm having fun with it. I want to get a video clip of my cat, Mia, using her foot to dip and drink. Theoretically, I can do that with this camera, so you may see it in a future posting. So be prepared for lots of boring cat pictures!

Day One

I got a camera for Christmas, so I decided now is the time to start my first blog!
